Getting there is half the fun

Someone far less cynical than I once said "getting there is half the fun." For our fearless leader Mark (a.k.a. MKS or mark.i.is as he known on the street) these words seemed tough to utter at the outset. Having requested a window seat Mark was dismayed to find his seat number matched an aisle seat. As luck would have it that aisle seat was next to the only baby on our flight. Matters were made worse when the baby chain smoked the entire way to New Orleans. But as you can see Mark took it in stride and managed a smile before tearing the arms off the baby's doll.

KIDDING! Mark closed his eyes and meditated the entire flight. I'm certain he was meditating because his mantra sounds just like snoring. No worries there.

The way Mark handled this situation only inspired me to honor my personal commitment to NOT COMPLAIN on this trip. I decided before we left that no matter what this week had in store for me I would do my best to take it in stride. My life is very blessed. And my blessings are made all the more precious by bearing witness to the destruction this town has endured.

Saints Alive!

Thanks for your prayers RevKathy!
I know everyone on the trip will be thinking of and praying for you on Sunday.

Your send off reminded me of the words of St. Teresa:

Christ Has No Body

Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.

Teresa of Avila (1515–1582)

the eve before travel: prayers ascending

as our team packs and prepares for their journey to Waveland, our prayers ascend: for traveling mercies, incredible adventures, powerful witness, and the healing of hearts and homes.

our hearts travel with you as you become God's hands and feet in this portion of our broken and hurting world.

and......have a GREAT time!

love and blessings,
Rev. Kathy
